Truth to Remind us, but encourage us to do better
A question we often ask ourselves and others is, are we happy?
Whether one believes in this Philosophy or any other, we still want to know are we happy?
Happiness is the very purpose of our life & everything we do, every motion we make is
toward happiness.
The Dalai Lama wrote a handbook on living called, The Art of Happiness in which he
explains our purpose, our warmth & compassion, our discipline to suffering trials &
obstacles & bringing about change & a spiritual life.
Helen Steiner Rice, a writer of inspirational verse tells of a way to a happy day. Happiness
is something we create in our mind. It’s not something you search for & so seldom find.
It’s just waking up & beginning the day by counting blessings & kneeling to pray.
It’s giving up thoughts that breed discomfort & accepting what comes as a gift Heaven
sent.
If we give up wishing for things, that we have not & making the best of whatever we’ve got.
it’s knowing that life is determined for us & pursuing our tasks without fret, fume or fuss.
For it is by completing what God has us to do, that we find contentment and happiness too
In another verse Helen tells us, everybody everywhere seeks happiness it’s true, but
finding it & keeping it seems difficult to do.
Difficult because we think that happiness is found only in places where wealth & Fame
abound.
So we go on searching in places of pleasure seeking recognition & monetary pleasure
unaware that happiness is just a state of mind, within the reach of everyone who takes the
time to be kind, for making others happy we will be happy too.
For the happiness you give away returns to shine you.
